(Not Quite the) Mystery Fruit

Anyone got a guess as to what it is?
Looks like something from a sci-fi movie, no?



Hint #1: it's occasionally used as an ingredient in pumpkin pie spice, or in meat rubs.
Hint #2: made into an oil, it is a weapon.

The answer is 'blindingly' simple. Email us for the answer ;)

    But I didn't before I looked it up. That's pretty sweet! I had no idea what that spice looked like!

    Um... looks like some kind of fruit fetus that isn't ready to hatch yet.
    Whatever it is I don't know if I wouldn't want to eat it in that form.

    Actually despite the name, part of that fruit & the weapon you're referring to are two entirely different things. The fruit itself bears two spices - one being the one you were referring to & one being the one the fruit is actually named after. Neither can be used as a weapon though. Its oils are actually beneficial, being used primarily in cough syrups. :)
